In Memory of
Katherine Economides

Katherine Economides passed away March 25, 2026.  She was born in Martin’s Ferry, OH in 1931 to Alex and Christine Koumonduros, and moved to Houston in high school. She was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where she met the love of her life, Phil.  She was active in church organizations such as Philoptochos, Senior Citizens, and GAPA as well as a regular participant and supporter of the Houston Greek Festival.  She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Katherine could always be counted on as a Room Mom, Team Mom, and biggest cheerleader during sporting events.

Katherine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Philip, her parents, siblings, two nephews, and her great grandson, Philip.

Katherine was proud of all her children, Cathy and her husband Steven, Stacy, Gus and his wife Julie, and Christine and her husband Dean.  She had a special relationship with all her grandchildren Anastasia, Christina and her husband Jordy, Costa and his wife Lainey, Nicolette, Alexandra, Katina and her husband Mitch, Katherine and her husband Wesley, Hailey, and Kyle.  She was blessed to have three beautiful great granddaughters Aria, Alessia, and Ella.

Visitation and funeral will be held at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral (3511 Yoakum) on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.  Trisagion Service will start at 10am with the visitation and funeral to follow at 11am.  The family has requested that the interment be private at Forest Park Lawndale.

Serving as pallbearers are Kyle Economides, Costa Economides, Mitch Parker, Wesley Sprott, Phillip Mallios, Christo Zgourides, and Dimitri Zgourides.  Honorary pallbearers are Steven Bonner, Dean Panagopoulos, Pete Koumonduros, and Ted Koumonduros.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting all donations be made to the Benevolence Fund at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

A very virtuous woman like no other!! She had all her family in her thoughts and prayers, she was always talking about how proud she was about every one of them and she had a word full of wisdom for me. You will be remembered for all the goodness in your heart and firm character love goes on until we meet again dearest Yia Yia!!
