He was born November 18, 1949 in Houston, Texas to Nell and Earnest Cockroft. He was raised by his grandparents Cassie and Lillian Turner. He met Gladys at a Christian Youth Organization when he was visiting his Uncle Jesse
and Aunt Margret in Bryan. They were married on July 12, 1968 and this July they would have celebrated 56 years together. On November 5, 1969 he joined the Army and was honorably discharged on October 9, 1971. Cassie, their first son, was born while Kenny was in Vietnam in 1970. Kenny would bribe Cassie with candy in his front pocket to have his boy leave his mom’s arms. They were blessed with another son, Clifton in 1973.
