WEBSTER, TEXAS --- Arthur P. Holmes, passed away October 10, 2007, while taking his afternoon nap.

Born November 22, 1921 in Galena, KA his boyhood home. After graduating from Galena High School in 1939, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and in 1940 he started his career in the United States Air Force, stationed at Randolph Field in San Antonio, TX. Mr. Holmes met and married his first wife, Isabell, while stationed there. They were married for 48 years before she passed in 1988. He spent time in India during World War II. He retired from the Air Force after attaining the rank of Master Sergeant with 21 years of service. He then started a new career at the NASA Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston as a Quality Engineer. After his second retirement, he and his second wife, Billie, fulfilled their dream of seeing the world by land and sea.

Memorials may be sent to Shriners Burns Institute, 815 Market, Galveston, TX 77550.

Surviving are his wife of 15 years Billie Holmes, son David Holmes and his wife Barbara of Houston, TX ; and three grandchildren, Brandon Holmes, Nathan Holmes, Amanda Holmes, all of Houston, stepson Gary Brandt and wife Rebecca, and five grandchildren, stepson Randy Brandt and wife Carol, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:30 am in the Chapel of Houston National Cemetery, Monday October 15, 2007 with Rev. Randy Brandt officiating.
