J. V. LaSalle

After a long battle with cancer and heart disease J.V. LaSalle went home to meet his Lord and Savior Tuesday morning, April 22, 2014 in Humble, Texas. He was 83 years old at the time of his death. He was born in Iola, Texas on March 28, 1931 to Julius and Daisy LaSalle. He moved to Houston with his family as a young boy where he spent the majority of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Linda and Lenora, and two brothers, Mike and Robert Lyn.

J.V. enjoyed playing his guitar and singing old time country and gospel music with his family and friends. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading all types of books including his favorite, the Bible. During his younger years he served in the United States Army and Air Force where he received an Honorable Discharge in 1955. He was a City of Houston Health Inspector until his retirement in 1992. He led a full and happy life and will be missed by his loving family.

He is survived by his loving and devoted childhood sweetheart and wife of 65 years Yvonne. Daughter Brenda and husband, Cliff Moseley of Magnolia, Texas, daughter Kim and husband Ralph Jester of Sealy, Texas, and son Jim and wife Linda of Kingwood, Texas. J.V. was blessed with five grandchildren, Yvette and husband William Christian, Bryan and wife Ann Lee Moseley, Jason and wife Theresa Jester, Mandy Jester Hansen, Rochelle and husband Duane Hanson, and Laurie LaSalle. He also had seven great grandchildren, Caleb and Grace Christian, Elizabeth and John Moseley, Dusty Jester, Tyler Hansen, and Zach Hanson.

J.V. was a member of the Melrose Masonic Lodge for over 40 years and and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church.

A visitation with the family will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Services will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Carl E. Fitzgerald officiating. Both will be held in the temporary fellowship hall of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Internment will follow at the Houston National Cemetery.

The family asks that should you desire, in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution be made to the building fund of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 9649, Spring, TX 77387 In Memory of J.V. La Salle.
