In Memory of
John Henry Werler
-

John Henry Werler, 64, of Sugar Land, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011, following a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 31st at Beresford Funeral Services, 13501 Alief-Clodine Road, Houston, Texas. The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 1st at 11:00 am at River Pointe Church, 5000 Ransom Road, Richmond, Texas. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family.

John will be remembered always as a wonderfully loving husband, father and friend, always there with a ready smile and often with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. His laugh was loud and strong and was always contagious. Those who knew him well, knew that he adored his family, had a lifelong passion for Naval ships and model building, and through his many travels to England, grew to love beautiful English-style gardens.

John was born in Staten Island, New York on April 2, 1947 and spent much of his childhood in San Antonio, Texas. He had an adventurous childhood, growing up learning to nurse baby mountain lion cubs and foxes, as his Father, a Zoo Director, would often bring home sick zoo animals. He travelled the world with his Father, Mr. John, gathering snakes for the Houston Zoo, and passed on his love of snakes to his family. John moved to Houston in 1964, then on to Sugar Land in 1991 where Lee Ann and John built their home and started their family. Graduating from the University of Houston in 1970, John went on to spend 38 years working for KBR where he was known for his hard work and incredible wit.

Although we will miss him everyday, he will always remain forever in our hearts. John is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Lee Ann Werler of Sugar Land, Texas; Daughter Brittni Werler, and son Benjamin Werler. He was predeceased by his loving parents, John and Ingrid Werler.

Dear LeeAnn,

John was a good friend, an excellent engineer and a wonderful person. He will be missed by all. I retired from KBR about a year ago and moved to Southern Illinois and had lost contact with John's health. I am saddened by his passing. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

John and I worked together in Brown and Root in 70's and early 80's until my departure in 1985. He was a very competent Project Engineer alway ready and prepared to take challenging assignments and always completing the on budget and time with hisghest quality. I was shocked when I heard the sad news of his untimely departure. I send my sympathies to LeAnn an his children.

John,

So glad you're not alive to witness the verbal and physical abuse your daughter afflicts onto others. Also witness how your wife has become a pill popper living in her fantasy land with her new younger boyfriend (who may I add is enjoying your hard earned money)

-deeply sorry

John, I know I am 5 years late but I just found out. You were my best friend as we grew up to manhood. I spent so much time staying at your house as it was my second home. I shall deeply miss you and your parents. Your dad had the toughest handshake and he always made me shake hands every time I can over but I was always rescued by your wonderful mom. Although we have not seen each in years, you were always on my mind. I shall miss you old friend and there will always be a tear in my eye for you.
God bless, Thom
