Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 31st at Beresford Funeral Services, 13501 Alief-Clodine Road, Houston, Texas. The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 1st at 11:00 am at River Pointe Church, 5000 Ransom Road, Richmond, Texas. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family.
John will be remembered always as a wonderfully loving husband, father and friend, always there with a ready smile and often with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. His laugh was loud and strong and
was always contagious. Those who knew him well, knew that he adored his family, had a lifelong passion for Naval ships and model building, and through his many travels to England, grew to love beautiful English-style gardens.
John was born in Staten Island, New York on April 2, 1947 and spent much of his childhood in San Antonio, Texas. He had an adventurous childhood, growing up learning to nurse baby mountain lion cubs and foxes, as his Father, a Zoo Director, would often bring home sick zoo animals. He travelled the world with his Father, Mr. John, gathering snakes for the Houston Zoo, and passed on his love of snakes to his family. John moved to Houston in 1964, then on to Sugar Land in 1991 where Lee Ann and John built their home and started their family. Graduating from the University of Houston in 1970, John went on to spend 38 years working for KBR where he was known for his hard work and incredible wit.
Although we will miss him everyday, he will always remain forever in our hearts. John is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Lee Ann Werler of Sugar Land, Texas; Daughter Brittni Werler, and son Benjamin Werler. He was predeceased by his loving parents, John and Ingrid Werler.
