Lynne Chamberlain Woodward
Lynne Chamberlain Woodward, 79, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2018 in Houston, where she lived for over 50 years. She was born in Newark, NJ, but her family moved to Ft. Worth, TX
in 1945. She graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in 1957 and went on to attend T.C.U., where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She moved to Houston in 1961, married Cornelius Bailey (Bud) Woodward, and had daughters, Joan and Nancy.
Lynne had been active in the volunteer organization at West Houston Medical Center, and even served as its president. More recently, she was a
member of Second Baptist Church on Woodway, and active in its Joy of Living Bible Study class.
Lynne will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her gracious hospitality, and her willingness to serve others. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nancy Woodward of Houston, TX, and Joan Childress, her husband, Steve Childress and their twin daughters, Julia and Sarah Childress, all of Austin, TX, her sister, Barbara Brown of Denver, CO, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bud Woodward, her parents, Thomas T. and Barbara B. Chamberlain of Ft. Worth, TX, sister Deborah Price of Houston, TX, and brother Thomas Taber Chamberlain, Jr. of Ft. Worth, TX.
A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Dr., Houston, TX 77057, with reception to follow. You are all warmly invited.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at West Houston Medical Center, and the compassionate providers at Harbor Hospice for all their professional and dedicated care. A special thanks to Dr. Rina Awan for her wisdom and time in guiding the family through the last days of Lynne’s life.
