In Memory of
Ohannes Bedros Frankian "Hovig"
-

Ohannes "Hovig" Bedros Frankian, 66, born in Anjar, Lebanon, passed away Saturday evening on April 16, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Ohannes was raised in Lebanon and studied theology at the Antelias Armenian seminary. He later studied Armenian linguistics at the Haigazian College in Beirut. Ohannes was a respected leader of the Houston Armenian community, serving as a deacon and choir master of the St. Kevork Armenian Church. Ohannes would proudly serve as an interim priest during times of cleric transitions. He was also the principal of the Armenian school for fifteen years, and is lovingly called "Baron Hovig" by all of his students.

Ohannes was a founding member of the Serop Aghpur chapter of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. He was an advisor for the Dro chapter of the Armenian Youth Federation and served as emcee during cultural events and celebrations.

Ohannes was known as a caring person and was loved by many. His jovial attitude lifted the spirits of everyone around him and he was often the focal point of social gatherings. His spirit touched the lives of those around him, and he will be greatly missed. His family finds solace in that he will always remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He was honored in his life and will continue to be in his passing.

Ohannes is survived by his wife Shoghig, his three children, Nora, Herag, and Silva, his brother Vrouir Frankian and wife Berjoug and their three children, Ani and husband Curtis Vernor, Sevag, and Vicken, his brother Paul Frankian and wife Barbara Stephen and daughter Stephanie, the Makhoulian family, the Serkhoshian family, the Janbazian family, the Ghoughasian family, and the Pachanian family.

Come To Me
God saw you were getting tired,
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you
And whispered, "Come To Me."
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

John, we will miss your good humor and friendship - you made us family. Love Maria, Bruno and Pina Socci

I unfortunately did not know Mr. Hovig Frankian personally but what little I have read about him tells me that he was a pillar of society and truly a man of God. Mr. Frankian’s son Herag is a friend of mine and I have seldom met a gentler, kinder and wise-beyond-his-years person, further proof of the good values and excellent upbringing that Mr. Frankian imparted to Herag. I pray to God to provide Mr. Frankian the choicest of places in Heaven and to give the family the fortitude to bear this immense loss.
