VINA FLAVIA THOMPSON died in Houston, TX on October 3, 2007 at the age of 86 years old. Flavia was raised and educated in Opelousas, Louisiana. She moved to Houston in 1944 where she was employed as an executive secretary for Tennessee Gas (Tenneco) in the Land and Legal Department. She married Victor Hugo Thompson, Jr. in 1952 and they lovingly raised a son and twin daughters. Flavia’s life revolved around family, friends, and community. She was an active member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and worked faithfully as a member of the Altar Guild for over 40 years. She also participated in the University Area of Women Rotary and Cancer Fighters of Houston.

Survivors include husband, Victor H. Thompson, Jr.; daughters, Kathy Brumbaugh and husband Ken, and Karen LaBarge and husband David; grandchildren, Shelly Brumbaugh Alexander and husband Larry, Jeffrey Brumbaugh, Valerie Brumbaugh Strickland and husband Casey, and Jaclyn Threadgill; great-grandchild Grace Alexander. Flavia was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and five sisters, as well as stepson First Lt. Victor H. Thompson, III of Houston who died in 1967 serving his country in the Vietnam War.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 8, 2007 at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 345 Piney Point Road, Houston, Texas 77024, Phone 713-782-1270. Visitation will be in the chapel from 10 to 11 am with the funeral service in the sanctuary beginning at 11 am. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079, Phone 281-497-2210.
