Anne Marie Hanratty

Anne Marie Hanratty, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on August 7, 2013 surrounded by what she loved most in life-her family and friends. Born on Oct. 14, 1929 to the late Mary Dermody and Peter S. Byrne, Anne grew up in Collingdale, PA, where she met and married the love of her life, James Hanratty.

Anne relocated to Houston with her husband in 1955, where she raised eight children and was blessed with twenty-one grandchildren. Anne was a woman of amazing energy and faith who was ahead of her time when it came to balancing work and family: working fulltime, raising eight kids and participating in numerous school and community organizations. Anne cherished her family and friends and made sure to enjoy life at every turn. She was never too busy to lend a hand or to spend time with a child or to celebrate with her friends and family. She will be greatly missed.

Anne is survived by her loving family: James Hanratty, husband and best friend of sixty-two years; children, Nancy Lopez and husband Manuel; Maureen Celii and husband Francis; James Hanratty and wife Linda; Lelia Culpepper and husband Joe; Brenda Boeckman and husband Clarence; Sean Hanratty and wife Marti; Kevin Hanratty; Kathleen Rossi, twenty-one grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank her caregivers; Marta Tapia and Maribel Alvarez for their loving devotion and support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Walsingham Church, 7809 Shadyvilla Lane, Houston, Texas 77055. In lieu of flowers Anne wished donations in her name be made to Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church.
