Betty Sue Homeyer passed away on Christmas Day, 2010 in Tomball, Texas surrounded by loved ones. Betty Sue was born on November 16, 1923 in Austin, Texas. She was the daughter of Avis Mae Oliver and Rayburn Tumey and the wife of Fred Carl Homeyer who all proceeded her in death.

She was a loving wife and mother who was caring and very thoughtful of others. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Tomball, Texas. She was a CPS (Certified Professional Secretary) and earned a Diploma from the Graduate Schoool of Savings and Loan in Bloomington, Indiana. She was a career woman who supported her husband Fred in all endeavors. They were active in the Savings and Loan industry for many years. Together they pioneered several innovative advances in developing accounting programs for the Savings and Loan industry on early IBM computers. They were widely recognized for their efforts in this regard. Betty Sue was the 1964 ABWA (American Business Womens Association) Woman of the Year, an award of which she was very proud. She was active in her church and studied and read her Bible daily. She studied water coloring in her later years and painted many beautiful cards for her friends and family.

She is survived by her son Fred Charles Homeyer and wife Linda of San Angelo, Texas, her daughter Janice Sue Van Ornum of Tomball, Texas and her children Cullen and Ashlie and her son William Polk Homeyer and wife Elizabeth of New Hampshire and their children Adam and Caren. Betty Sue is also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial will be on December 29 at 1 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, TX. A celebration of life and memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday evening, December 28th in Tomball, TX. For more information contact a family member. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Salem Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund, 22601 Lutheran School Road, Tomball, TX 77377.
