In Memory of
Charlsie Horton Emerson
-

Charlsie, age 92, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 23, 2023.  She was born in Dallas, TX to Wymes and Mazelle Horton who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by Jim, her husband of 58 years and the love of her life.  She is survived by her daughter, Patti Emerson and son, Jay Emerson, both of Houston; her grandson and his wife, J.J. and Cheehwa Emerson and two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Jason, of Irvine, CA; and her sister Della White of Bay City, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  Charlsie will be dearly missed by those who were blessed to have known her.

Charlsie graduated from Lillie Jolly School of Nursing in 1951 and continued her studies at the University of Houston.  She worked at Memorial Hospital Southeast in Houston for more than 30 years before retiring as CCU Supervisor.  After retiring, she volunteered for many years at Houston Hospice.  Her family, friends and church were the highlight of her life.   She was a devoted member of both Bellaire Christian Church and Bethany Christian Church and dearly loved her church family.  When she was not volunteering, she loved to travel and garden. She always had a smile on her face, and her strength, courage, and infectious laugh followed her wherever she went.

A celebration of Charlsie’s life will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 11:00am at Bethany Christian Church, 3223 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX  77098.

Patti's mom,Charlsie, was about the only working mom I knew growing up. I was so impressed when Patti and I would stop by the hospital to see her mom at work in CCU.
Charlsie had a delightful laugh (which Patti inherited) and a sweet soft-spoken voice even when she would say, "Patti Lynn!"
She was a great role model...
