John Carter Mayfield III, 82, passed away on August 8, 2026 in Houston, Texas. He was born in Del Rio, Texas on January 27, 1944 to John Carter Mayfield II and Mary Savannah Fort Mayfield.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Ilene Wilson Mayfield; children, Savannah, Lee, Elvis, and Shara; and 7 grandchildren, Caleb, Selah, Liam, Leon, Rosemary, Eleanor, and Maximillian.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served during the Vietnam War.
He will be laid to rest on Monday, August 24, 2026 at 9:15 AM at the Houston National Cemetery.
