Frances White Jones
Frances White Jones passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in Houston, Texas.
She was born in Meridian, Texas on June 16, 1922, the older of two girls, to Earl and Chloris White. She attended Baylor University and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.
After moving to Houston, she met and married the handsome John Bill Jones. The began a family with daughter, Linda, and later, son Ted. Frances was a full time mom assuming leadership roles
in scouting, church, and sports activities.
After the kids were at Texas Tech, she worked at H&R block for a number of years.
She enjoyed traveling with family an South Main friends to Europe, the Orient, and especially around the U.S.A. Frances has been a member of South Main Baptist Church for well over 60 years. She was a Sunday School and SMILE program instructor for years there.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Linda McCormick and husband Mack. She also leaves nieces, Sandi Dormont, Wendy Dormont, Pam Samuelson, and Penny Sterud. She also leaves many Jones cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bill Jones; her sister, Mary Jean Dormont; and her son, Ted Scott Jones.
The family requests that any contributions in her memory be directed to South Main Baptist church, or the charity of your choice.
Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11 AM at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
