John Sidney Williams born March 21, 1925 in Eldorado, Texas passed away January 6, 2008 in Katy, Texas. Sid was a World War II veteran, Purple Heart recipient and a long-time civil service employee. He served as a ruling elder at Central Park Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi, Texas; John Knox Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas; and New Hope Presbyterian Church in Katy, Texas. Sid lived his faith in every area of his life. He was a devoted and faithful son, brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather.
Sid was an avid sports fan and he shared that enthusiasm and the sporting experiences with his daughters and his grandchildren. Over the years he did volunteer work in many areas of the community and took great joy in assisting others and mentoring the youth of the communities where he lived. The last number of years he volunteered at Memorial Herman Hospital – Memorial City.
Sid is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mozelle Parks Williams and their two daughters, Jacquelyn McDonald (husband, George) and Avan Blair, both of Houston. He is also survived by his grandchildren - the greatest joys of his life - Jared Lord, Lacie Johnson (husband, Charlie), Cody Blair and Matt McDonald. Additionally he is survived by his brother Stuart Williams and sister Martha Dell Thornton, both of San Angelo, Texas and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Nkeche Ikwuemesi, Daddy’s caregiver of many months who brought great joy and devotion to him in the last months of his life. In addition, we would like to thank Resolutions Hospice of Katy. They showed great care and compassion as they assisted our family through his final journey.
Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8th at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 1350 N. Mason Drive in Katy.
