In Memory of
Richard Oscar Bell
-

Richard Oscar Bell, 82, passed away on September 8, 2022 in Houston, Texas.  He was born on December 29, 1939 in Overton, Texas.

Richard was an Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam war as a Tank Commander.  Injured in the line of duty, he was flown to Okinawa for treatment and recovery before returning stateside where he met and married his wife, Carolyn Ann Bane.  He served many of his Army years in Germany, a country that he loved, partly due to his German heritage.  After his years of service, Richard was a man of many trades including time spent as a welder, diesel mechanic, truck driver, pulp wooder and golf course superintendent.  When not working Richard enjoyed many pastimes including BBQing, fishing, gambling, shooting sports, watching classic western TV shows and movies, and spending time with his beloved family.  Many of his family members' favorite memories of him were accompanying him on fishing trips, trips to casinos, or enjoying his delicious BBQ.  Richard was a man of few words, but the words he spoke were of high value to those who listened.  He could tell tales of his years in the service, his years growing up in Texas, many occupations, and family lore.  Richard was a man who was loved by many and will be missed greatly.

He is survived by his son Richard Ross Bell & girlfriend, Cora Thaler; Daughter & Son in Law, Kimberly and Kevin Glancy; grandchildren, Elizabeth Glancy, Ryan Bell, Richard Devon Bell, Christian Bell, and Luca Glancy; sisters, Faye Peters and Billie Jean Schmidt; brothers and sisters in law, Don and Virginia Bane, Dale and Jodie Hill; and loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as numerous other relatives and numerous friends.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Richard Osceola Bell and Pearlie Warwarofski; sisters, Ruth Starr, Betty Kirk, Carol Ramirez, Patsy Ziglar; and his loving wife, Carolyn Ann Bell.

He will be laid to rest with his wife on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 11 AM at the Houston National Cemetery.
