
Yoneko Kyan Brown, of Houston Texas, passed away at the age of 79 after a courageous battle with stomach cancer. She passed away on January 28, 2024.
She was born on June 28,1944 in Kumajima, Okinawa, Japan to Sabaro Kyan and Kamiko Miagi.
She met her husband Billy Francis Brown during his time stationed in Okinawa, Japan with the U.S. Army. She was married in Japan and moved to Fort Campbell, Kentucky in the United States. Their first child Billy Francis Jr. was born there in Kentucky. Later, they moved to Houston Texas where their second son Kenneth Kyan was born. Yoneko enjoyed gardening, attending church, sewing, fishing, going to the game room and attending various activities with her grandchildren. She was baptized at Westway Baptist Church after she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. She loved attending the annual Japanese Festival that was held in Herman Park in Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her husband Billy Brown, her sons Billy Brown Jr. (Tara Brown), and Kenneth Brown, and grandchildren Janelle Brown, Kameko Brown, Owen Brown, Landon Brown, and Ashlyn Brown, all from the Houston area. She is also survived by her special friends Ruby and Johnny Williams (she often referred to Ruby as her daughter), and Fernando and Janey Sanchez.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Sabaro Kyan and Kamiko Miagi, and various siblings.
The viewing will be on February 6th, 2024, at 6:00PM and the service will be at 7:00PM at Westway Baptist Church. The address is 11207 Perry Rd, Houston, TX 77064. Friends are invited to wear purple as that was Yoneko's favorite color.
