Joseph G. Stoever, 82, died October 15 in Houston, Texas, where he had resided for the past four and half years. Before moving to Houston, he had lived in West Norwalk for 45 years. He was the husband of the late Margaret Wadsworth Stoever.
Mr. Stoever was born on December 7, 1926 in New York City, to the late Joseph R. and Henrietta R. Stoever. He was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, New York. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during WW II and attended Adelphi University on Long Island following the war.
A long-time employee of Dorr-Oliver, Inc. in Stamford, Mr. Stoever was Manager of Design Engineering at the time of his retirement. He was also the pianist in the Hal Lindy Orchestra, a popular local-area dance band during the '60s, '70s, and '80s.
Mr. Stoever is survived by two sons, Matthew A. Stoever of Houston and John E. Stoever of Mount Airy, Maryland; three grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Following private services, Mr. Stoever's remains were cremated. The family requests that contributions be made to a favorite charity.
