William Henry Alton Evans, also known as "Will" and "Uncle Willie" of North Zulch, Texas, passed away suddenly at the age of 56 on August 25th, 2025, in Hallettsville, Texas. He was born on February 3, 1969, to Selvah Nell McWhorter Evans and Robert William Evans in Madisonville, Texas.
He attended Carroll High school and joined the United States Army in 1989. He served during the Persian Gulf War as a Chemical Operations Specialist. He later received his honorable discharge in 1993. He studied Small Business Finance at Muskingum University and Finance at Texas A&M University-Central Texas. He lived for a while in Ohio and Georgia with his former wife and 4 children. Whether he was spending his days on the lake, at the beach, or out in the yard, you would always find him cooking up family favorites like his famous Irish potato salad, savory beef jerky, and fresh chips with green salsa to name a few. He loved his family, and his children were his world. He was immensely proud of each of them with their accomplishments in their studies, skills and military careers. William PROUDLY served as the Post Commander of the American Legion for the Post 410 in Lakehills, Medina County Texas. His love for his country and his Iron Soldiers was reflected in everything “William” was. Not a day went by that he didn’t check on his brothers in arms.
He was often found singing karaoke, particularly his signature song Tennessee Whiskey or attending his favorite Red Dirt Country concerts. He would make a mean BBQ, always making sure he had more than enough to share. He was eager to lend a hand to anyone who might've been in need, whether it was home renovations, car troubles or any number of things. He was skilled in it all. He was a lifelong fan of the Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed his Jameson whiskey and Garrison Brothers Bourbon.
He is survived by his four children, Kaitlin Sutten & husband Ryan of Santa Monica, CA, Sean Evans of North Zulch, TX, Cassidy Condoluci & husband Cid of Redondo Beach, CA, and Bryan Evans of Alice Springs, Australia. His pride and joy, his precious grandson. His brothers Bill, Woodrow, and Ray as well as sister Becky. He was especially close to his cousins Phil & Anita McWhorter, Joe McWhorter, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. William had his own army of “Zipperheads” as he loving referred to his numerous “adopted’ nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Selvah “Nell” and Robert, sister Mary, brother Ronnie and his beloved “nephew” Phillip Paul McWhorter.
