In Memory of
David A. Briers
-

David A. Briers passed away comfortably in his home Jan. 2, 2013 after a sudden and savage illness. David was born on Aug. 10, 1952 at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston. David worked for many years in the local printing business and was well known in the industry for the wide variety of experience he displayed as well as for his easy-going yet professional attitude toward work. To say David had a likable nature is quite an understatement.

Big Dave was an avid sports fan and loved all his hometown teams but most of all his beloved Houston Astros. He was also an ardent collector of Astros memorabilia with a collection any fan would be proud to own. David was a devoted Christian and took great comfort from his faith. His last days were very peaceful in the knowledge that he would soon be with his Lord and Savior. He was a long time member of the First Methodist Church in downtown Houston.

David spent many Sunday mornings volunteering his time before service shuttling the congregation from the parking lot to the church entrance in a golf cart (lovingly referred to as the Pope Mobile). He also appeared in many church holiday plays most notably playing the part of Judas in several Easter presentations. David was proud to play a part that many others might shy away from but that was just another testament to his faith.

David is joining in heaven his father Thomas A. Briers of Houston and his longtime step-father Bill Ward of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years Jeraldine Davis Briers, his sons David (Bubba) Briers Jr. and Aubrey Davis and granddaughter Jada. Also in mourning are his mother Ann Ward, siblings Andrea Briers, Bette Briers, Lewis Briers as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also in loving remembrance are his sisters and brothers of the Davis family along with his half-brothers Tom, Lee, Terry and Denver Briers of North Texas.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 am January 12, 2013 at First Methodist Church, 1320 Main Street, Houston, Texas.

David,
Thank you for the memories I have of you, everytime I saw you there was a big smile, and a warm closeness. You allways extented your hand to welcome me into your life.
Our familys were split, not because either of us wished it, just because that was the way it happened.
I know you are sleeping with the Angels next to Dad in Heaven. Rest in Peace my Brother, you will be missed.

David - He was a wonderful person always so willing and friendly, to help me when I would go into the OK Paper Center on 1960. I guess I have known Dave for at least 12 yrs. we had many conversations about his church and his family which he was so proud of. Very good man will be missed so much!
