The son of missionary teachers Ruth and David M. Jr., David M. Driver III was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Moving to Arkansas in 1935 with his parents and sister, he spent his childhood in Arkansas and North Carolina. After college, he managed ANICO regional insurance offices for 14 years, then was called to serve in the priesthood, entering seminary, and was ordained in the Episcopal Church.
He served parishes in Michigan, Illinois, and Texas; Father David also taught in diocesan schools of theology in Michigan and Illinois.
After retiring to Tyler, Texas, he and Eleanor completed their years-long vision and became orthodox in 2005. In Tyler they were instrumental in helping to begin St. John of Damascus Orthodox Mission, and have been at St. Joseph Orthodox Church since moving to Katy in 2008.
Preceding him in death are his parents, and his sister, Estelle D. Hughes. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Eleanor; three daughters, Gayle (Jerry) Blaxton of Shepherd, MI, Marcie Impastato of Katy, Texas, and Michele Driver of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Anthony, Vincent, Joseph Impastato; Philip (Julia) Blaxton - Hazelwood, MO; Tim (Jessica) Blaxton - St. Paul, MN; Fr. Stephen Blaxton - Saginaw, MI; Ruth (Chris) Leikert - Grand Rapids, MI; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
