Derrick Jefferson

Derrick Dewon Jefferson was born on August 6, 1974 in Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston to Bruther Kirkwood, Jr. and Otharee Jefferson. Derrick spent most of his life in Houston but frequently spent time in Shreveport, Louisiana with his grandparents.  

Derrick is the beloved father to Dahmarquise “Dominique” (Tarsha Sanders, Mother), Gabriel and Sade Jefferson (Vanessa Thomas, Mother).

Derrick showed a talent for sports at a very young age. He played baseball in Little League and basketball throughout his high school years. After high school he obtained his CDL and begin driving commercial vehicles. Later in life, he showed an interest in the beauty of nature and history but his true love was always his children. 

Derrick is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Aritha Henry, Aunt Joe Ann and his Uncle Ralph. 

Left to celebrate his life are his parents Bruther and Otharee, his three children Dahmarquise, Gabriel, and Sade, his sisters Latoyia (Lynwood) and LaTeale, his grandmother Martha White, his Aunts Margaret , Mae Lane and Emma Doris, his uncle Clyde (Mabel), John and Paul Ernest, a niece, a nephew and a host of cousins.
 

Services will be on Saturday, June 15, 2019 in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service.   Visitation will begin at 10, and the funeral at 12.  Burial will follow at Houston Memorial Gardens.
