Ed Zwald passed away at home on July 7, 2022, he was 77 years old. He had a courageous battle with cancer for two years, and died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Ed lived in Houston and Austin most of his life. He travelled the world with his job in the oil business, and met his wife Mary Issa who was working for Schlumberger as well, and lived overseas for a decade in Saudi Arabia working for Exxon. He was kind natured, loved his son Mark and was proud of the man & father that he has become.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ed & Marie Zwald. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary of 47 years, his beloved son Mark and his wife Phoenix, and three adoring grandchildren, Maxwell, Vivienne and Chloe. Also his sisters Barbara Wing, Carol Herchek (Henry) brother David (Barbara) and his brothers in law Dr. Salim Issa (Ann), John Issa (Viola), sister in laws Jeanette & Janan Issa, and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Ed will be remembered as a loving and generous person. He loved playing duplicate bridge and was a Life Master. He loved his bridge buddies, and looked forward to traveling to different tournaments around the country. During Covid, he played bridge online with friends, and that made him very happy during his illness.
A funeral will take place at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church, 11935 Bellfort Village Drive, Houston 77031, Sat. July 16, with rosary at 10:30 AM, funeral mass 11:00 AM, followed by meal of mercy in Church Hall. Private burial with immediate family at Forest Park Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ed can be made to Our Lady of the Cedars Church, 11935 Bellfort Village Drive, Houston 77031.
