Joan Marie (Danna) Martino passed away peacefully at age 88 while in Hospice Care on August 7, 2021, from complications from Alzheimer’s.
She was born March 23, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri to Joseph and Marie DeMarco, the oldest of two girls.
Mother graduated from high school in May of 1950 in Kansas City and married Dad, Frank Aydam Danna in January 1951. They took up residence in Houston where they raised 3 sons, Joe, Frank Junior (Burnie), and Michael.
Mother was a stay-at-home mom until we were all school age. Then she began helping Dad at the family business, Queen Anne Flowers on Westheimer. She sold the business after Dad passed away in 1986. She spent some time after that living with Burnie in Missouri and then Michael in Colorado. When Michael moved to Maui, she came home to Houston to stay.
Mother was preceded in death by Dad, Michael, her sister Nancy, 2 grandsons and a great-grand-child.
Mother is survived by her oldest son Joe and wife, Paula, son Burnie; Grandchildren: Matthew and wife Wendy, Joe Junior and fiancé Morgan, Jill and husband Casey Houser, Justin and wife Natalie, and Samantha.
Mom was blessed with 14 great grandchildren whom she loved very much.
Mother requested that there be no formal service. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Mom requested any flowers or remembrances be instead donated to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
