John James Robinson, Jr., “Johnny” was born on May 27, 1967, in Houston, Texas. He passed away October 15, 2021, in Houston.
Johnny graduated from Cypress Creek High School, Stephen F. Austin State University with a bachelor degree in Criminal Justice and studied Accounting at the University of Houston. He became a CPA and went into practice with his father at John J. Robinson Certified Public Accountants.
Johnny married the love of his life, Janie Williams Phy in May, 1998. He was one in a million, a protector and a true Old Soul. His very presence touched so many lives, whether it be through his work, his conversations and stories or the causes and charities he strongly supported. He never met a stranger and was always there to help others expecting nothing in return.
Johnny grew up in the “big city” but was the happiest with the solitude of the great outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking, sailing, scuba diving and being on his farm with his wife, dogs and longhorn cattle. He loved being in nature and ending the day with a good book. Johnny was a master cook in the kitchen, on the pit and an open fire. He would say “the only time to eat diet food is when you are waiting for your steaks to cook and I like mine rare”. He had a knack with animals, a whisperer of sorts, instilling a calm energy with his presence. Johnny loved good bourbon and tasted every one he could, on and off the bourbon trail to find the one “just right”.
Johnny is survived by his wife and best friend, Janie, son of his heart, Jonathan A. Phy, mother, Dr. Barbara Abrams (Dr. Lawrence Abrams, since deceased), father, John J. (Linda) Robinson, sister, Sheryl (Frank, III) McMillan, nephews, Frank “Fran” McMillan, IV and Robinson “Rob” McMillan, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, stepbrothers, stepsisters, in-laws, extended family and many friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 1:30 PM at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 600 Pecore, Houston, TX 77009.
In lieu of flowers, Johnny would want donations in his memory to TAFR (Texas Association of First Responders), where he was a Life Member. Click HERE to donate.
