There is a grand reunion going on in Heaven! I love Joyce and she and my mom were great friends for many years. She will be missed.

Joyce King Steffen, born July 25, 1929 in San Antonio, Texas died January 14, 2014, in Katy, Texas. Her parents were Ed and Ruby King of Port Lavaca.
One sister, Joan Pruett of Hallettsville, survives her, along with three daughters, Eileen Crowell, Karen Liles, and Susan Greer, all of Houston; sons-in-law, Ryan Liles and Barry Greer; and five grandchildren, Edward Crowell (Missouri City), Katie Crowell (Houston), Barrett Liles (Colorado), Emily Lewis and husband Andrae (Houston), and Lyndsey Greer (Houston). Eight first cousins also survive her: Tommy
She graduated from Houston's Reagan High School, The University of Houston with a BA in English, and Sam Houston State University with the MS in Library Science. She was a teacher and librarian in Houston Independent School District for more than 30 years, and after retirement served in the Prayer Ministry and Music Ministry of Tallowood Baptist Church, Houston, where she was a member. A memorial service will be held in Stockdale, Texas.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the First Baptist Church Stockdale (202 S 7th St, Stockdale, TX 78160).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, desires to honor Joyce be made through contributions to Tallowood Baptist Church, Houston - either the Adult Choir, Prayer Ministry, or Library - or to the charity of your choice.
