In Memory of
Kenneth Ray Marx
-

Kenneth Ray Marx, 69, passed away on July 3, 2013 in Houston, Texas. He was born on August 27, 1943 in Houston, Texas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carol Ann (Kalich) Marx; son, Nathan Edward Marx & wife Katrina Marie Marx; daughters, Loretta Jean Gallegos, and Katrina Gail Olin & husband Jason Olin; grandchildren, Angel Sims & husband Phil Sims, Meagan Gallegos, Kenneth Jose Gallegos, Taylor Marx, RaeLynn Marx, Jonathan Marx, Kyle Olin, and Jake Olin; great-grandchildren, Addison Sims, J.R. Sims, Jaxon Sims, and one on the way; and his niece, Julia Turner Wiley & her sons, Lance and Austin.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Albert Marx; his mother, Minna Pauline (Heep) Marx; and his sister, Barbara Dean Turner.

Kenneth was baptized September 5, 1943 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Kenneth attended Bethany Lutheran Church and then onto Sam Houston High School. From a previous marriage, Kenneth had a daughter, Loretta Jean in January 1961. He then married the LOVE OF HIS LIFE Carol Ann Kalich on June 12, 1965 in Schulenburg, TX. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. Most of his military time was spent in Japan where Carol joined him. Returning to the states, their marriage was blessed with 2 children, Nathan Edward Marx and Katrina Gail Marx Olin. Kenneth then entered the business machine industry with Olivetti. Soon after, he established his own company, Southern Office Machines, which he still owned and operated until his passing. Kenneth had very clear passions in his life. Family, faith, and friends always came first, and his love for hunting and the outdoors followed closely behind. Kenneth always had a smile, a 'kind' word to say, or a helping hand to give to those he came in contact with. His children and grandchildren were his proudest accomplishment in life.

A visitation will take place at Our Savior Lutheran Church (5000 W. Tidwell, Houston, TX 77091) on Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 5 to 7 PM. A second visitation will take place at Our Savior Lutheran Church on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 1PM to 2PM and the funeral will begin at 2:00 PM. Procession will immediately follow to Earthman Resthaven Cemetery (13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060) for interment.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I did not know him well, but my son Jason is married to his daughter Katrina. What a beautiful, loving, wife and mother she has become and I know it came from her loving father and mother. May he rest in peace with the Angels. God will give you strength in this time of need.

Carol, Everett and I are holding you and your family in our prayers. We mostly 'knew' Ken thru Charles. The two of them were blessed with a long close friendship and I know my brother will miss Ken dearly. I pray that God will hold you up in the days and weeks to come and bring peace to your hearts.

A Better Friend could not have been found ! I do not remember ever asking Kenneth for anything that he did not try to help me with !
Kenneth loved his wife and family very deeply and would and did do all he could to make their lives as good as he could help it be ! Kenneth loved his Church, its teachings and the people he knew there !
As I was told by Kenneth just a few days ago, I will see you on the other side !

Daddy,
I was thinking about you today, as you are never far away from mu thoughts. I still pretend/forget sometimes that you are not here. I miss you so much. I know Carol and Nathan and Trina Gail and all of us do. I pray your days are full of Peace and Contentment, and I hope you can't see how sad we are with out you, cuz if you were sad, what would be the point of Heaven? I hope Grandma Minnie, Papaw Marx, and Bomb, and all those you love, are sitting at the feet of Jesus with you. I'll see you again Daddy, and all the bad times will be forgotten, and only the good will remain. I love you........Retta Jean
