In Memory of
Kenneth Wayne Stelly
-

Kenneth Wayne Stelly was born to Aaron and Agnes Stelly on February 18, 1957 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was blessed to join his Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven on November 7, 2022. Ken, or “Papa Ken” as he is lovingly known by his family, was truly a selfless soul, always willing to lend a hand to a friend or a stranger.

In 1968 the Stelly family moved to Houston where Ken first attended Cy-Fair High School and then transferred to the first graduating class of Jersey Village High School. While attending high school, he played basketball and began learning about auto mechanics. This interest led him to Dallas to study diesel mechanics at the Ryder Institute. Ken had a long career in the transportation and delivery industry, suiting his nature of always making sure everyone around him had what they needed, when they needed it.

In 1997, Ken married Peggy Crawford Stelly, a music teacher in Cy-Fair ISD, and the two enjoyed over 25 years together in Northwest Houston. His family was always his priority, but Ken also loved the friends who became like family from their church and their neighborhood, sharing many trips and adventures together.

Ken was a natural born handyman and “tinkerer” and was never one to call a repairman when he could figure out the problem with a car, lawnmower, refrigerator, boat, or just about anything else in this path. Ken was happiest mowing the lawn, walking on the beach or fishing in Sargent, especially with the grandkids in tow. Naturally, his favorite soccer, basketball, baseball or football team was whichever one included one of his six grandchildren.

Ken is survived by his wife Peggy, his daughter Melanie Stelly, and his brother Michael Stelly, both of Houston. He is also survived by his stepdaughters and their husbands Kim and Jeff Rose and Kara and Brian Norton, as well as his six precious grandchildren - William, Abigail, and Ben Rose and Tyler, Travis, and Katie Norton.
