After many years of battling Parkinson's Disease, Mary Jane Ford passed away on Dec. 30, 2007. She was born Dec. 3 1929 in Garber, OK to Robert and Irene Ford.
During her girlhood Mary Jane attended many different schools, where she excelled, graduating at the top of her class at Liberty High School, Liberty, TX at the age of 15.
She married James D. Comstock on Dec. 27, 1947. They made their home in Houston, TX where she worked as a secretary while taking courses at the University of Houston toward a degree in mathematics and then went to Sam Houston College for a master's degree. For 20 years she taught in The Houston Independent School District and was instrumental in establishing Career Day for high school seniors. She served as assistant director for The National Science Foundation program at The University of Houston.
After moving to Pattison, TX she taught mathematics at Royal High School in Brookshire for 10 years and also taught math courses at Houston Community College.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James D. Comstock, brother, Robert Ford, niece, Dorene Patterson, plus many nieces and nephews in law who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Karen Ford. Funeral services will be held at Pattison United Methodist Church Thursday, January 3, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Herb Stallknecht officiating. Interment will be at Pattison Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of South TX, 1908 N. Laurent St., Victoria, TX or to donor's favorite charity.
