In Memory of
Mary S. Gilliard
-

Mary S. Gilliard, 43, passed away on November 24, 2019.   She was born on December 24, 1975 in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Mary was a loving, sweet spirited lady who loved and cared for her 5 children, husband, and very close family and friends.  She was born and raised in Lake Charles, LA.  Her mother, Barbara Thomas, and father, John Semien, along with the help of her grandmother, Alma, raised her to be the beautiful woman she grew to be.

She attended Washington Marion High School in Lake Charles.  Upon completing high school, she enrolled in the Southern University where she would attend a semester, then transferred to Hawaii Pacific where she would receive her first of many degrees (Associates).  She would the go on to earn her Bachelor's Degree while maintaining an High G.P.A.  She would ultimately get not one but two Master's Degrees, one in HR and the later in Computer Science, all while raising her two daughters.   Mary would then later in life have three more kids, whom she loved and cared for until her in death.   She married Jervie on September 6, 2006.

She loved to have fun and watch funny movies.  She loved her family, her sister, and her Zeta.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jervie Gilliard III; her son, Kobe Bean Gilliard; daughters, Markia Semien, Emerald Semien, and Chloe Gilliard; her father, John Simien; her mother, Barbara Dunning; and sisters, Tiffany Aldridge, April Stephens, Sarah Gilliard, and Tekeesha Semien.

She is preceded in death by her son, "Little Iron Man", Iren Lamar Gilliard, who passed away earlier this year.

Services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service beginning with visitation at 10 a.m. and the funeral at 12 noon.   She will be buried next to Iren at Carmen Nelson Bostick Historic Cemetery.

Mary, you are my "Club", my ACE. I called you Ambition because I loved your "Can Do" attitude. You were a FINER WOMAN and a Zealous LADY. Soar with the Doves. I shall see you in the Boule that shall never end. We shall do "Candy" without getting tired!
