In Memory of
Maxine Johnson
-

Maxine Johnson slipped peacefully from this life into the arms of her beloved Lord on October 10, 2018.  Born June 9, 1926 in Vilonia, Arkansas, Hazel Maxine was the eldest child of Howard and Ina Price.  She attended school in central Arkansas, graduating from Conway High School in 1944.  Following graduation, she attended the Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas) in Conway.

On December 22, 1945 she married the love of her life, Archie Johnson.  Together they travelled to Bethany Nazarene College (now Southern Nazarene University) in Oklahoma, where he prepared for ministry in the Church of the Nazarene.  Maxine served along with Archie at pastorates in Arkansas, Alaska and Houston, Texas.  Whether in the role of pastor’s wife or layman, she was passionate about serving her Savior, holding leadership positions in the local church and welcoming all who came.

Maxine was no stranger to work.  Throughout her teen years, she worked various jobs to supplement the family income.  Later, when Archie changed professions, this mother of five put her organizational and communication skills to work assisting with family businesses or working office jobs.  Whatever she could do to be a support to her husband and family, she willingly did.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Archie and son Archie Wayne.  Her devotion to them, especially in their final days was one of her greatest legacies and an inspiration to many.

Maxine is survived by four children: Linda Donalson and husband Charles of Houston, David Johnson and wife Margo (Tate) of Pearland, Mark Johnson and wife Debbie (Douglas) of Houston and Rhonda Villa and husband Timothy of The Woodlands.  She was blessed with twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.  Maxine is also survived by two brothers, Theodore Price of Texarkana and Kenneth Price of Conway, Arkansas.

She was a gracious lady, faithful wife and devoted mother.  She loved the Lord, family and friends and was dearly loved by them.

Services will be on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Crossing Church of the Nazarene, beginning with Visitation at 1:30 and the funeral at 2 PM.   Interment will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville at 4:30 PM.
