In Memory of
Mei Chun Chin
-

Mei Chun Chin, age 75, of Houston, born December 22, 1943, in Jalan Kayu, Singapore, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 21,2019. Mei Chun was the oldest of 11 siblings who all had to help work at their family business “Ah Kow Laundry Dry Cleaning” washing, drying and ironing clothes. She married Siew Tong Chin in 1966 in Singapore. They moved to Houston in 1970 where she continued to grow and raise her family. She started a child care business at her house in Alief where she was known as “Mrs. Chin”. She was very active caring for kids and teaching them Cantonese. She also worked as a sous-chef at numerous area restaurants. She led an active lifestyle. She loved gardening and growing her own vegetables. Every day was “eat your vegetables day” from the home grown where the family was never tired of eating them. Mei Chun was generous toward the ones she loved and cared for, most important to her was the wellbeing of those around her, especially her family. She always considered her number one job making sure the family had home cooked meals. Sewing, cooking, singing, reading, travelling, and spending spare time with grandkids were some of her favorite past times. Mei Chun and Siew Tong both were saved in 1998 and became a member of the Chinese Lutheran Church where she was baptized as a testament to her faith in Jesus Christ.

Mei Chun will be greatly missed by those who loved her and those whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her father Kok Weng Hay. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Siew Tong Chin of Houston; sons, Henry Chin and Andy Chin of Houston; daughters, Jeanny Chin Gerow and husband Cameron, and Lisa Chin-McFarland and husband Kevin of Houston; grandchildren, Austin Nguyen, Justin Gerow, Kainoa McFarland-Wada, Kylee McFarland and Johnny McFarland of Houston; mother Fong Kwey Sam of Singapore; brothers, Kam Eng Kok of Singapore, Kam Heng Kok of Singapore, Kham Seng Kok of Singapore, Melvin Kok of Singapore, Roy Kok of Singapore, Kelvin Kok of San Jose, CA; sisters, Bee Peng Kok of Singapore, Bee Choo Kok of Singapore, Mei Hoe Jow of Houston and May Leng Kok of Singapore.
