Rachid Jamal Hawila, 85, passed into the loving hands of the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2019 after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Inaam (Latife) Yared; his son Samer, his beloved daughter-in-law Vicky, his two grandchildren Richard and Jasmine Haouila of Sugar Land, and many relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his Siblings - Laurence Haddad, Raymond Hawila, Renee Hawila, Edmond Hawila and Marcelle Semaan,

Born and raised in Lebanon, Rachid was a self-made man who worked his way through school earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in economics.  He embarked on a long career in finance and communications.  In his early years he was the managing director of Lebanon’s only TV station, Tele Liban (Tele Orient). Later he traveled the world as Financial Director of Triade Group, then he went on to become the VP of Finance for Zakhem Group, an International Conglomerate, until retirement.

Rachid had a passion for tennis.  He played and competed until he was well in his seventies.

At the age of 72 Rachid continued his pursuit of knowledge and learning by acquiring a Master’s of Business Administration degree after which he settled in Houston with his family.

The Hawila’s were one of the first families who started the Maronite Catholic parish of Our Lady of the Cedars.

Family and friends are invited to the Visitation on Tuesday, May 28, between 6:00 and 6:30 in the evening, followed by a prayer of the Holy Rosary at 6:30.
