
Richard Paul Suffel, devoted husband and father, passed away on May 6th, 2011. He was born in Sweetwater, Texas, on April 6th 1943 and grew up in the Texas Hill Country. Richard played football and track for Southwest Texas University, and upon graduation was drafted by the Houston Oilers. He also served as a decorated Sgt. in the Army National Guard Reserves. He taught and coached for many years and later worked as a financial advisor. He was a loving father to his children and a dedicated husband to his wife of 30 years. He is survived by wife Sandy; son Sean, his wife Carol Ann, granddaughter Scarlett; son Scott, his wife Riley, granddaughter Emma; and daughter Jaclyn. A memorial service will be held at Pines Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, May 10th at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Texas State University Department of Athletics, Texas Lions Camp, Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund or the National Stroke Association.
