It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vernon O. Hayes, Jr., who left us on July 9, 2024 to be with Jesus.
Vernon was a man full of love and laughter. He loved Jesus, his family, and friends. He touched the lives of all who knew him. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a scout master and loved helping his boys get their badges.
He served his country proudly as a Senior Airman in the United States Air Force.
He retired from Centerpoint as data manager and designator of registered communication distribution designer (rcdd). As a lay chaplain, Vernon loved praying for people, and his heart was for the sick. He always answered the call to pray for someone who was ill.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Mary Hayes; his daughter, Laura Walker; son-in-law, Jamie Walker; granddaughter, Julia Hadjistavrou & husband Nick; grandsons, Joshua Walker & wife Abby, and Jacob Walker; and his great-granddaughter, Eleanor Walker.
