It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wafa' Ghoussoub, a woman of extraordinary strength and unwavering faith. Wafa's journey began on May 19 1944 in Baalback, Lebanon and her legacy lives on through her remarkable life story and through the children and the grand children that she raised.
At the tender age of 17, Wafa' sailed on a journey of love and devotion when she married Hanna Ghoussoub. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Their union blessed them with three beautiful children: Nabil, Kozhaya and Marie Rose, and seven wonderful grandchildren: George, Samantha, Celeste, Mariana, John, Elena and Mark, who became the cornerstones of Wafa's world.
Tragedy struck when the ravages of war in Lebanon claimed the life of her beloved husband Hanna Ghoussoub when she was just 33 years old. Left alone to navigate the treacherous waters of life, Wafa' displayed unparalleled courage and resilience. Despite the harrowing conditions brought on by war, she fearlessly carried the weight of responsibility for her three young children. Her determination shone even in the darkest times, as she safeguarded her family with unwavering love and boundless sacrifices to provide for their Christian upbringing and education.
Throughout her life, Wafa's fighting spirit triumphed over adversity. She faced health challenges that would have daunted the strongest of souls: battling cancer, enduring two strokes, managing diabetes, COPD, and high blood pressure among other conditions. Yet, through it all, she remained unyielding, her faith never wavered, and her spirits remained high.
