Lola Yvonne Brauner (82) passed away on Friday, December 25, 2009. She was born in Yoakum, TX on November 9, 1927, to Howard and Lola Copeland. She moved with her parents to Houston at a very young age and remained there the rest of her life. She grew up in the East End attending Burnet, Edison and Austin schools. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter Joseph “Bob” Brauner by 17 years. Yvonne was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by 2 daughters Sharon Simpson (Mike) and Karen McCauley (Mike), 3 grandchildren Shannon McMath (Mark), Laura Kalokowski (Henry) and Michael Simpson (Laura) and 5 precious great grand children. She was in retail for most of her adult
She spent many years as a member of the Central Park Church of God and later was a member at Broadway Baptist.
Even in the last days of her 8 year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, her compassion would sometimes surface through a smile, showing the Yvonne we all knew and loved. She will be so deeply missed, but we rejoice that she has been set free to reside with Jesus.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, December 28, 2009 with a visitation one hour prior to the service, which will be held at the Chapel of Houston’s First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. There will be a brief gathering with a light lunch for anyone who wishes to attend and then a burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery, 13401 Eastex Fwy., Houston, TX 77039-2607, 1:00 P.M.
A heartfelt thank you to Evelyn Agngarayngay, Yvonne’s primary care giver the past 2 years, and to the Ragasa family members, and Irma Eini all who assisted from time to time in caring for her needs. Also many thanks to the nurses and aides of Houston Hospice.
If you so choose, donations may be made to Houston Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association, or because of Yvonne’s great love for children and animals a donation to Texas Children’s Hospital or the SPCA.
