Mrs. Dyer was a rock in my young life and in our community, and she will be greatly missed by myself and my family. Although my hair is turning grey, I can still remember countless hours spent with Robert in their driveway, shooting baskets, learning how to handle a newspaper route, etc. I also remember many pleasant conversations with her, especially at her home and whenever I would arrive too early at Kwik Kopy and need to wait for Robert to finish a print order; she always took time to talk with me, even when I'm sure I was actually too much underfoot and it would have been much easier to send me on my way. I also remember her involvement, as was everyone in the Dyer family, at Bethany. My mother remembers vividly that Bernice (she was always "Mrs. Dyer" to me) was so very involved in our neighborhood community, a trait which continued long after I had moved out of the Houston area. Her kindness, civic passion and devotion to family obviously are traits she shares with Mr. Dyer, and which they have passed on to Robert. I am very lucky to have been the beneficiary of knowing so well such a great, solid family, and proud that we remain friends as new generations arrive for us all.
