Antoun G. Daou, PhD., born on January 28, 1978, in Mrayjeh, Lebanon, found eternal rest with The Lord on May 18, 2018.

Dr. Antoun Daou was the beloved husband of Rebecca Akl (married in 2013), and the most loving and perfect father for George-Raphael Daou (“G.R.”), born in 2015. He was an ideal son to Georges and Joséphine Daou. He was the cherished brother of Aline, treasured brother-in-law of Firas, and the adored uncle of Ramzi and Leila. He was the pride of his in-laws Chawki and Olivia and the caring brother-in-law of Celine and her husband Toufic.

Dr. Antoun Daou held a Ph.D. in Physics and Astronomy, and a Space Physics, Engineering M.S. from Rice University. He also had a B.E.M.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.

He was a top international consultant, space scientist, mechatronics engineer and public figure in education and leadership.

His passion for space science and astronomy as a way to understand the universe and unfold scientific mysteries lead him to Rice University where he completed his M.S. (2005) and Ph.D. (2008). He received multiple awards from Rice University, including several leadership awards and the “Sallyport Award” in 2008. As a Research Scientist at Rice University, his research primarily focused on the Sun, Heliosphere, Sun-Earth Connection, Space Weather, the Sun-Star connection and Stellar Eruptions as well as the development of specific ground and space-based instruments. He was a valued mentor and influencer to all his students. Dr. Antoun Daou was a well-published author of over 50 publications as well as numerous projects and inventions expanding the frontiers of knowledge in many fields.

Fascinated by the world of technology, engineering and mathematics, he held several leading positions in mechatronics engineering at multinational corporations. He held multiple patents in Design Engineering and Robotics.

His professional experience in several fields and his rich international connections, coupled with his adaptive leadership approach has made him a trusted advisor to C-suite executives of multinational corporations across the world.

He was the Chairman and CEO of Earth National LLC, where he developed unconventional processes, combining with state of the art techniques and technologies in communication, A.I., robotics, neural networks, V.R. and immersive environments. As a Cofounder and Chief Operations and Consultancy Officer of BioD Partners, Inc., he led the global innovation and disruption management consultancy. As Chairman and CEO of Pearl Advisers SAL, he provided strategic advisory, diplomatic consultancy and conflict resolution, as well as educational roadmaps and technology transfers. He was also a Senior Advisor at the International Special Projects Unit.

Dr. Antoun Daou’s professional affiliations included, but were not limited to, National Aeronautics and Space Association (NASA), United Nations, the US Embassy System, and the French Embassy System, the Vatican Embassy System, Lockheed Martin, American Astronomical Society (AAS), Rice University Solar Research Group, MMS Mission Science Team, Rice Space Institute, Research, Outreach, and Academic Division (ROAD), Rice University Solar Research Group, ePlanetarium, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Discovery Dome, LNN EPO NSetwork, NSSTC, IAESTE, INDEVCO, MENA Robotics League Referee Group, Solar Physics Division, Stanford Solar Center Program, UC Berkeley SSL EPO Program, Solar Heliospheric and Interplanetary Environment, and Chayon Ryu Martial Arts HQ Houston.

He is the recipient of many prestigious awards, recognitions and appreciation shields from many institutions, including but not limited to, National Aeronautics and Space Association (NASA), American Astronomical Society (AAS), SHINE, American University of Beirut, Collège des Pères Antonins,  Petrochemicals Royal Commission, King Saud University, U.S. Embassy and French Embassy in Lebanon.

His public outreach, education, social and fundraising efforts left positive imprints across the world, making a difference in many countries, especially in the lives of the youth in both the advanced and underserved communities. He was the Chairman of the Lebanese National Network, an NGO. He was an Angel Investor in many successful entrepreneurial endeavors and has helped stem and lead non-profits and educational networks at a global scale.

He spoke 9 languages, was a public and media speaker, taught martial arts (Kung Fu and Chayon Ryu), and played 5 musical instruments.

His interests revolved around education, cutting-edge technologies, fundraising and charitable activities, history, geopolitics, and most importantly religion scholarly research.

He is survived by his beloved wife Rebecca, his son George-Raphael, his parents Georges and Joséphine, his sister Aline, his brother-in-law Firas, his nephew Ramzi, his niece Leila, his in-laws Chawki and Olivia, his sister-in-law Celine with her husband Toufic, and all the people he loved and loved him back immensely.

He profoundly touched the lives of everyone he met. His beautiful life will forever be cherished.

Antoun was a devout Christian, his faith was strong, unshakeable, and illuminated his path. He respected every soul of God's Creation. He promoted good in the world, gave selflessly, spread God's Word and lived by it. Antoun's life was devoted to the Virgin Mary, and the Light of God.  Everyone who knew him understood that he completely trusted the Love of The Lord.

A prayer service in his memory will be held on Thursday, May 24 at 7PM at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church (11935 Bellfort Village Drive in Houston, TX)   A Mercy Meal will follow the Prayer Service.  The funeral ceremony will take place in Lebanon.

Reading his obituary breaks my heart into pieces. I can't believe my eyes.
Antoun is a cousin and a family pride on a nation scale. He surely gave from his heart and went above and beyond to change the world into a better place.
Your light will remain shining in the minds and hearts of the people that touched your soul.
Aline you have endured so much, but i know that his passion has always been driven by your strength. What a legend sister you are. God bless you and your family.
My prayers go out to all of you. Christ has risen.
