In Memory of
Bobby Joe Chism
-

On June 6, 2021 our family lost a most avid sports fan and golfer.  Bobby Chism was a husband, step-father, poppy, uncle, brother and nephew of the Chism clan.  He was born on October 26, 1958 in Denton, Texas to Donald Chism and Barbara Gunn Chism, both of whom have preceded him in death and will welcome him home with open arms.  Bobby was baptized at Copperfield Church on February 22, 2004.  Bobby met his wife Pamela on Matchmaker.com and the internet match lasted 22 years.  He was looking for someone who shared a love of sports and jazz music.  On March 15, 2001 he married his match in Fredericksburg, Texas after arranging all  wedding details himself.  He never knew that wedding experience would lead to toting flowers for other weddings as his wife pursued a part time floral career.  In  marriage he inherited two daughters, Nikki Bates Hanley and Megan Bates Velkovich.  Our family grew to include two sons-in-law Robert Hanley and Cody Velkovich,  and then three beautiful grandchildren, Samson, Afton and Andy.  Bobby loved to tell stories about his travels during the Navy. He loved talking sports during the games with his father Don. He enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends.  He dabbled in fishing from a kayak and taking to the road on a motorcycle.  His 50th birthday was his most cherished where his friends came by on motorcycles to wish him a happy milestone birthday.  He also loved cats, his two favorites being Pippi and Jack.

Bobby leaves behind a sister and brother-in-law Sherri and George Gregory, a brother and sister-in-law Steve and Sheree Chism, step family including Joanna Chism Lesko, Sherry and husband Matt Jackson, Lisa and husband Greg Gedmin, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles, extended family and friends.

We will remember Bobby at a service on Monday, June 28 2021 at Copperfield Church, 8350 Hwy 6 N, Houston, TX 77095.  The family will receive visitors beginning at 9 am, followed by a service at 10 am.  Refreshments will be served to those who wish to stay after the service.  At 1:15 pm the family will attend military honors at the VA Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
