In Memory of
Daniel Morgan White
-

Daniel Morgan White, of Humble, TX, passed away peacefully at the age of 79 in the early morning of October 14, 2023, at Houston Methodist Hospital with his loving wife Elaine by his side.  For the past seven years, Dan had bravely battled Liver Disease.  His adult children travelled from around the country in the days prior to his passing, to gather around their father and Elaine in support.  Dan was born on July 27, 1944, in Ithaca, NY to Robert Elmer White and Bessie Ann (Jones) White.

Dan was a member of the Class of 1963, graduating from Charles O. Dickerson High School in Trumansburg, NY.  Shortly after he joined the United States Navy, where he served in the Construction Battalion as a “Seabee”.  The motto of the Seabees is “Can Do”, and this reflected Dan’s outlook on life. Dan was a Vietnam Navy Veteran.

Over the course of his civilian life, Dan was almost always self-employed, as he was an entrepreneur at heart.  In his 20’s he owned a Gas and Service Station in Phelps, NY.  He was the founder of “The Town Crier”, a local table-top newspaper, headquartered in Geneva, NY.  In Texas he founded Z-Man Direct a Marketing/Promotional Items Business, and most recently, Dan was self-employed as a Business Consultant.

There were no strangers in Dan’s life.  Everyone he met was a friend, as he took great joy in meeting people and creating relationships.  His interests included old tractors and cars, camping with family and friends, and he never missed an opportunity to play Santa Claus each Christmas.

Dan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Humble, TX where he enjoyed fellowship and serving.

Dan is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Elaine Robyn (Shaw) White; four beloved children, Mark White of Le Roy, NY, Victoria Shoe of Azle, Texas, Geoffrey (Katherine) White of Apopka, Florida, and Gregory (Jennifer) White of Phelps, NY; Grandchildren: Stefan, Max, Tommy, Brittney, Stephanie, Gabriel, Rachel, Nicole, and Elijah and 8 Great Grandchildren.  Additionally, he leaves behind his step-Mother, Martha White of Williamson, NY, and Siblings: Virginia Krokenberger of Tampa, FL, John White of Trumansburg, NY, Linda Settles of Lyons, NY, Jean (Keith) Jay of Interlaken, NY, Jane (Charles) Trumble of Wolcott, NY, and June Seiler of Williamson, NY.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bessie, his brother Timothy White, his sister Juanita, and his daughter Suzanne White.

Dan will be buried with Military Honors, at Houston National Cemetery, Thursday, October 26th promptly at 11:15 AM.  A Memorial Service is scheduled for later that evening at 7:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 12521 Will Clayton Blvd, Humble, TX 77346.

Thank you for sharing the family history with my son,Max. He got so much out of it, and won't be forced to tell people,"my mom says I'm related to pocahontas". I'm sorry I didn't get down to see you, and I know that I'm not strong enough to watch you die. I choose to remember the times when you and I would just ride and talk, and I do that with my boy because it's what did with me.
