Reverend Donald Frederick Böthel, 75, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2007 in Houston, Texas. He was born in Cape Elizabeth, Maine on June 25, 1931. He served in the U.S. Army where he received the National Defense Service Medal. After completing his formal education he went to Cote D’Ivoire with his wife, Alice, as a missionary. For the next 37 years Don completely immersed himself in the translation of the Bible into Tagbana, which is scheduled for printing later this year. His goal in life was to know Christ fully. One month before he passed away, he was still surrounded with his beloved Hebrew and Greek texts.
He was a quiet, gentle man. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alice Marie Böthel; two sons, Paul and James; sister, Eleanor Whitaker and her husband Norman; and two grandchildren, Gavin and Judah.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 30, 2007 at the Houston National V.A. Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.

I would like to express my sympathy to the family. I hope you are finding comfort in the time you spent with your dear loved one. Please find comfort in the hope expressed in the Bible at Revelation 21:3,4 where it tells us that mourning, pain, and death will be things of the past. Even Jesus confirms this promise at John 5:28,29 where he says that those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. I hope you find comfort in this hope. Feel free to email me to comment or if you have questions. Again, please accept my condolences.
