Gary Charles Gates, 54, beloved husband and father, went to be with his Savior on Wednesday, May 16, 2007. Gary was born August 25, 1952 in Arlington, Texas where he grew up. He was the owner of Assurance Mortgage in Houston and had a reputation as a man of integrity and fairness in the mortgage industry. Gary dearly loved his wife, Vicki, and their precious children Tyler, Austin and Victoria. His greatest joy was spending time with them and knowing they were happy. He is also survived by his mother, Peggy Gates of Arlington, mother-in-law Lois Theiler, brothers Chris and Richard (wife Daisy), sister Lisa (husband Levin) Letner, niece and nephew, and many many many friends he enjoyed. His father Doug passed away in February 2007. Gary coached many years and countless children in SBMSA baseball, softball and basketball. He was an active supporter of his children's schools, Clay Road Baptist and Houston Christian High. Gary was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. His family attends Houston’s First Baptist Church. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 19 at 10 am in the Pampell Family Chapel at Houston Christian High School, 2700 W. Sam Houston Pkwy N. Officiated by Reverend Lloyd Maddoux, uncle to Vicki and Gary Gates. Reception to follow at Clay Road Baptist Church, 9151 Clay Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made out to Clay Road Baptist Church, 9151 Clay Road, Houston, TX 77080 attn: Gates' Benevolence Fund.

Vicki I've just come across this information of Gary's passing. I cannot believe it I hope you and the kids are coping as well as you can. Gary was a special guy I worked for him at headlines usa. We had many good times. My prayers for peace and comfort are with you and your family. I realize it's been 9 years but I respected Gary very much and wanted to post if you guys ever see it or not.
