In Memory of
Guadalupe A. Anzualda
-

Guadalupe A. Anzualda, age 89, passed away peacefully, with his loving wife, Olivia, by his side, on September 18, 2022. Guadalupe was born on March 18, 1933, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

After his service in the U.S. Army, Guadalupe returned home and met Olivia. They were married in September, 1956 and started their family. Guadalupe’s jobs in the construction business led him to Houston which became home. For many years, Guadalupe owned and drove commercial dump trucks. He took pride in safely navigating the crowded Houston streets in these gigantic vehicles. When their children left home, Guadalupe and Olivia moved to their beloved “ranchito” in Waller County and lived there happily with their dogs, horses, livestock and other assorted critters. In his later years, Guadalupe and Oliva moved back to Houston to be closer to his family.

Guadalupe was always the life of the party. He always had a smile and a joke. Guadalupe loved all sports but golf was his passion. When he wasn’t playing he was watching it on TV. His clubs and golf shoes were always shined and ready to go. Guadalupe was a skilled golfer in his day and many afternoons finished on the eighteenth green of some local course. In his later years, he developed an interest in gardening and enjoyed caring for the many plants in his backyard. Guadalupe loved animals, particularly dogs, and always had a few loyal companions around. He cherished his final dog, Rosie, who was always by his side.

Guadalupe is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Anzualda, Sr., his mother, Elpidia Anzualda, his brothers, Martin Anzualda, Tony Anzualda, and Manuel Anzualda, Jr., and his sister, Maria Hernandez.

Guadalupe is survived by his spouse, Olivia Anzualda; his daughter, Sylvia Baker and husband, David, of Houston, Texas; his daughter, Norma Ulrich and husband, Frank, of Humble, Texas; his son Ruben Anzualda Navarro and wife, Minnie, of San Juan, Texas; his grandchildren, Austin Navarro, Preston Navarro, Brandon Navarro, Meagan Navarro; 2 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Joe Anzualda and Ramon Anzualda, both of Corpus Christi, Texas, and his sister, Esther Escamilla of Brookshire, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Service and Internment will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, at 10:30 a.m.

The family would like to especially thank Guadalupe’s doctors, nurses, staff and other caregivers at the Michael E. DeBakey Medical Center, whose excellent care and generous kindness throughout the years was a source of great comfort to Guadalupe and his family.
