Michael James Burke
Michael James Burke “Mike”, passed away peacefully on March 12th, 2025, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born on August 8th, 1957, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania to Gerard James Burke and Nan Philbin Burke as the middle child of three children.
Mike graduated from Romulus High School in Romulus, New York in 1975 and then joined the Air Force where he served from 1978-1981. After, he enrolled at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he met his wife, Terri. They were married on June 16th, 1984. During their 40 years of marriage, they lived in numerous places including Beaumont, TX, Dallas, TX, Mandeville, LA and Houston, TX. Mike’s favorite hobbies were detailing cars, watching the Buffalo Bills, NASCAR, lawn work, home improvement, and entertaining. He was a dedicated and loyal husband and father, always putting his family before himself. He took care of his girls. Mike was not only proud of himself, but more importantly, proud
of the people he surrounded himself with. His optimistic outlook was reflected through his words, actions, storytelling and jokes.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Terri Lee (Cunningham) Burke and his two daughters, Kelly Anne and Katelyn Nan Burke; sister Patricia (Burke) Cool & husband Charles “Charlie” Cool; niece Ashley (Gee) Zerick & husband Andrew “Andy” Zerick; nephew, Jerry James Burke; in-laws, Clifford & Julia (Trent) Cunningham; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sherri (Cunningham) Howe & Lindsey Howe; brother-in-law, Curtis Clifford Cunningham; niece Emily (Howe) Barbour & husband Luke Barbour; niece Rachel Howe & fiancé, Clayton Hudson; and extended family. He is also survived by his best little buddy and dachshund, Nacho Burke. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard James Burke “Rick”.
Services will be held on Friday, March 21st, 2025, at 9:30 am at the Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038. After entering the main entryway, please proceed to Lane 1 no earlier than 9:00 am. The procession will follow the hearse to a Pavillion for the military funeral service.
After the ceremony, we would love for you to join us for a Celebration of Life at Maggiano’s Little Italy at 11:00 am located at 602 Memorial City Mall, Houston, TX 77024.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in his name be made to the American Heart Association and the Heart Failure Research Foundation.
Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible medical staff at Memorial Hermann who cared for Mike. To the dedicated doctors, nurses, and specialists, your compassion, expertise and unwavering support brought comfort to Mike and his family.
To the Weiser Family – We cannot thank you enough for everything. Mike’s work at Weiser was one of his greatest accomplishments, both professionally and personally. He loved every one of you.

I worked with Mike at BURNS Security in Dallas. He was a great guy and made going to work fun. He taught me a lot about security and client relationships that I still use in operating my company today. I have very fond memories of Mike and still use the lessons he taught me almost every day. He was quick with a smile and a handshake a a hearty, "How ya doin!" Rest in peace, Mike.

I’m sorry to hear about Mike’s passing. I worked for him almost 10 years in Dallas at Burns Security. He was a great boss and businessman. Praying for the family .
