In Memory of
Paula Ann Michalk
-

Paula Ann Hogan Michalk was born March 14, 1936 in Livingston, Texas. Paula's parents Paul & Azle Hogan preceded her in death along with her husband, Charley Michalk, her sister Gloria Marie Jackson and son Mark Steven Michalk.

She leaves behind her son Kenneth Michalk & Billie Cason, and daughter Peggy Mosher & her husband Kirk. She also leaves behind her Grandchildren Reed Michalk & wife Brittany, Rebekah Kelsey & husband Colby, Amanda Michalk & fiancée Aron Sable, and Sara Mosher. She also leaves behind 6 great grandchildren: Brooklynn Michalk & Reed August, Michalk, Jr., and Clayton & Claire Kelsey, Emmett & Lilah Sable.

Paula's entire life was lived in Texas. She spent her school years living in Livingston, Houston and Edinburg. She began school in Schwab City, but when her family moved from Livingston to Houston, she attended Burbank Elementary from 2nd-4th grade. She loved to swing and jump board. She also had fond memories of her dad building a 2-bedroom, one bath house along with a large garage and a wash house. She remembers an attic fan and an ice box and recalls the ice man delivering the block of ice weekly.

After 4th grade, her parents moved to Edinburg, Texas, where she graduated from Edinburg High School in 1953. She loved being a twirler on the Red and Blue Sergeanettes and she also enjoyed playing tennis, softball, and sang in the choir. She remembers her choir teacher Mrs. Robert's who let them sing religious songs and the school choir sang 'The Holy City' in a Baptist Church in McAllen, Texas.

After Graduation, Paula moved to Houston and worked at John S. Dunn Insurance. This is where she met Charley Michalk - he worked at Mortgage and Trust in the same building. Charley & Paula married on January 29, 1956 and were married 62-1/2 years when Charley passed away.

Paula and Charley attended the Methodist Church and helped build 3 churches over the years. Paula was an active member in the Woman's Society of Christian service and received a recognition pen for her service. She was also Dean of Vacation Bible School, and taught Sunday School. While at Holy Covenant United Methodist Church, she was the Wedding Coordinator for almost 9 years. Charley and Paula were members of Holy Covenant United Methodist Church for over 31 years. The church was a big part of her life. In later years, she wasn't able to attend church regularly. However, she enjoyed her daily devotional time, and her prayers are what helped her to continue on when life got tough. She loved the Lord with all her heart and soul and looked forward to spending eternity with Him.

Lastly, Paula loved her family! All of her family. Kids, grandkids and great grandkids, stepfamily, everyone! She also had a knack for remembering everyone's name! She was also good at making friends with her neighbors and it was sweet to see the friendships blossom to be like family.

In lieu of flowers, Paula asked that you please consider making a donation to Holy Covenant United Methodist Church in her memory.
