Primo Peter Bachielli

Primo P. Bachielli, 89 of Katy Texas, passed away Friday November 2, 2007.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 1, 1918 to Urbino and Lucy Bachielli.

Orphaned at age 21, in 1942, he enlisted in the Army during WW II. He was a member of the Third Armored Division and achieved rank as a Sergeant in Service Company 10th Tank Battalion, with a military specialty in armored maintenance. He served in the battles and campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. Primo was honorably discharged, October 1945 and was awarded five battle stars, a good conduct medal, four overseas service bars, qualification for marksmanship with the MM Rifle, and a mechanics badge.

Primo married Charlotte Sibilio on April 24, 1948, in Chicago. He was employed by Hendrickson Truck Manufacturing in Lyons, Illinois, where he had served as a mechanic before the war and upon his return became foreman and later sales coordinator. He retired with over 50 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Stickney, Illinois.

He was a dedicated, caring husband of 59 years, a father, a grandfather, a companion, and trusted friend. Primo’s life defined commitment and strength to family, friends and all who knew him. He was a skilled mechanic, a talented craftsman, an avid gardener, and a gourmet cook. Some of his favorite hobbies also included rebuilding several classic Thunderbird cars, fishing, and creating stained glass work. He will always be remembered as a patient, kind, soft-spoken and gentle soul.

Primo is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Bachielli, two children, Paul Bachielli and Laura Lord and one grandchild, Carmen Mott. He is survived by three nieces, Linda Bachielli, Carla Dombeck, and Gina Gregga, two cousins, Clara Manoni and Sister Mary Bachielli. He is also survived by son-in-law Eric Dorman, brother and sister-in-law Howard and Gloria Dombeck, and sister-in-law Violet Bachielli. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Bachielli.

Pallbearers will be Eric Dorman, Howard Dombeck, Joseph Austin, Carl Dorman and Jessie Guerrero. Honorary Pallbearer will be Paul Bachielli.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 7th, at Grace Fellowship United Methodist Church, in Katy, where the family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The memorial service will be held immediately following at 11:00 am, with Rev. Jim Leggett officiating. Interment will take place at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, at 1:45 pm.
