In Memory of
Christiane Jensen Fairbairn
-

Christiane Jensen Fairbairn passed away on Sunday, January, 17, 2021.

Christiane was born in West Berlin, Germany to Christian Peter Jensen and Kaethe Helene Metternich Jensen.  She grew up in a loving and caring family who shielded her from the atrocities of WW II.  At the age of 18, her beloved father passed away.  She and her mother remained companions for many years.  On a trip to the Italian Riveria, she met her future husband, Peter William Fairbairn, originally from West Hartford, CT.  He sat down in her rented beach chair.  After becoming acquainted, the two fell in love.  The two married on May 13, 1966 in New York City.  They resided in NYC and then were transferred to Baltimore, MD.  After several years, there was another transfer to Houston, TX.

In January of 1979, the couple welcomed a daughter, Christina Katherine Ruth Helene.  Houston remained their home until their deaths.  They were married for 51 years.

Christiane was the most compassionate, kind, tender, and gentle human.  She respected and loved nature and cared for all animals with respect.  She was polite, intelligent, and sharp-witted.  She was viewed by many people as carrying herself with grace and dignity and had a level of class not often seen.  She was well-mannered and well-versed in many areas of interest.  She always enjoyed learning new things.  She always found the good in others and treated all humans and animals with respect.

She enjoyed travelling, listening to classical music, reading, photography, literature, world history, foreign affairs, and the arts.  She actively completed crossword puzzles and attended symphonies, ballets, operas, and plays.  She loved going on walks and enjoying her natural surroundings.  Christiane enjoyed swimming, tennis, soccer, and skiing.  Later in life, she found great joy in walking her dogs daily.

Above all else, she was kind to all.  Whether it was a tiny snail or a person she just met, she exemplified compassion.

She never wanted to be a burden and reluctantly asked for help.  She valued her independence; remaining in her home and also driving herself.  She remained loyal and steadfast, even in the face of adversity.  She valued stability and tradition and always had a kind word for others.  She was loving and thoughtful, and one of the kindest human beings on this Earth.

Christiane is now reunited with her beloved husband, Peter, and her adoring parents.  May she rest in peace, as the calmness she always yearned for is now hers.

She is survived by her daughter, Christina & husband Jeremy, and her three grandchildren, Caroline Rose, Theodore Peter, and Annabelle Katherine.
