Robert Craig Russell, Jr. (Rob) of Houston passed away suddenly on July 6, 2026 in Houston. He was born on November 4, 1975 in Euless, Texas to Catherine Lea Scull and Robert Craig Russell, Sr
Rob was very active in the youth group at Cypress United Methodist Church in Houston, TX. He sang in the youth choir and performed in various skits and plays. He was the Jester in the Madrigal dinner theatre held at the church. Rob also participated in choir and mission trips with the church as they traveled and ministered to others less fortunate. He enjoyed meeting people and being able to witness through music and mission work.
Rob went to Cy- Fair High School in Houston, TX. He made the Jr. Varsity football team as a freshman and was on Varsity for his sophomore, Junior, and senior year. He was in the Cy-Fair Choir and Cy-Fair Showstoppers. This was an outstanding song and dance team that practiced outside of school hours. They also performed at choir concerts and shows. After years of working and learning in the restaurant industry Rob became assistant manager of Chedder’s Scratch Kitchen in Katy, TX and then Spring, TX. In 2020 he was promoted to Managing Partner of the Chedder’s Scratch Kitchen in Spring, TX. and stayed there until 2025. Rob then became one of the managers at Lupe Tortilla Mexican Restaurant on the Southwest Freeway. He remained there until his sudden passing. Rob was loved and admired by the staff at Lupe Tortilla’s and mourn that he was taken so suddenly. Rob is survived by his wife, Carla, and her son, Marvin. His own children are Nicole Stone and her son, Wyatt. Erin Russell, Sara Russell, her daughter, Katie Rose and fiancée Ricardo Ceballos, they are expecting a boy in late September. He is also survived by his mother, Catherine Ault and stepdad, Zelman Joseph, his dad, Robert Craig Russell, Sr. and his wife, Lorene; his sister Sara Margaret Russell, PHD and her husband Troy Taylor, aunts Margaret Scull, her partner Kathy, Sara Dickerson.,
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Marjorie and Berton Scull, PHD and Leatha and Grady James, his younger brother, John Berton Russell.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 1 at Foundry Church, 8350 Jones Rd, Houston, TX, 77065. The service will begin at 1:00.
Donations can be made to the Epilepsy Foundation in his memory and his brother, John Russell, who had epilepsy.
The family would like to thank Amy Russell for her countless hours of organizing and helping behind the scenes and Sara Russel for all the time and effort she has spent helping. We would also like to thank Connye Roberson, and Rev. Whitney Peper.

Old Broadway. Rob and his friend Jared Hamilton perfected the persona of “Wayne and Garth” who were big on SNL at the time. They had a blast, were in demand, and performed at many school events. Another one of Rob’s favorite acts was performing “The Church Lady”, also from SNL. Rob graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1994 and attended Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas.
