Henry M. Stevenson, Jr.

Henry was born on June 14th as the youngest of four children born to the late Dr. Henry Stevenson Sr. and Rosa Belle Stevenson in Emory, VA. Soon after, the family moved to Tallahassee, FL where Henry grew up. He graduated from Tennessee Temple College with a degree in Theology and minors in Psychology and Music.

He married Jeannie G. Stevenson on June 1, 1968 and they settled in Houston, TX where he lived the remainder of his life. They had 3 children: Melody Kay, Brian Keith and Kevin Allan.

Henry worked for Schlumberger as an Electrical Technician for 35+ years until his retirement in 2016. His interests included car mechanics, music and his faith. Henry passed away at home after a long battle with cancer.

I had the pleasure of working with Henry on a number of occasions at Schlumberger. Henry was a quiet person, but cheerful when conversing, and very knowledgeable about electronics. He was hard working, patient, diligent and thorough in his work. I imagine he had the uncommon virtue of frugality having seen him driving his well-worn brown car. No pretenses, all heart. I am truly sorry and saddened to learn of his passing, and extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to all his family and friends.

I had the privilege of working with “Mr. Henry” at Schlumberger in Sugarland. He investigated/analyzed failing electrical boards from the field. Henry was always kind and a pleasure to visit with. I was very fortunate to be a friend and one of a group of friends that met Henry for lunch a couple of times at Pappa’s Barbecue.

I have just learned of Henry's death and am so sorry for his family's loss. He was the best babysitter a little girl could hope for and a faithful friend for all of my life. I remember talking over the things that troubled or confused me--Henry always had time to listen and help make some sense of them. His love of God was contagious! I'm tempted to say that the world has lost a bright light, but I know that light has only moved to another window in the house of the Father he loved so well.

Jeannie, I can’t believe I am just finding out about Henry’ s passing after a year!!! I am very sorry for your loss and your children’s.
Think we may have met once at one of our Leon reunions. The last time I saw him was at Earnest’s funeral. I worked with Rosabelle , teaching at Holy Comforter and our son used to go to Jim’s “ snake camp”. So I was quite familiar with his family.
Henry was a Godly man and I know he’ll be greatly missed.
