In Memory of
Jacqueline Foster
-

Jacqueline Foster entered the gates of Heaven July 26, 2020 at the age of 79 years, after bravely battling many health issues.

Who would have known that 61 years ago, Jackie’s (also lovingly known as Big mawmoo, momasita, mother dear, granny, gmaw), second stroll by the movie theater to catch his eye would land her the love of her life, Charles G Foster, Sr. (Chuck), and bring her four adoring children, Charles G Foster, Jr. and wife Jackelin, Pamela Anderson, Sandra Beasley and husband Len, Michelle Foster and Alex Banda, five awesome grandchildren Jennifer Blythe and husband Jordan, Samantha Breland and husband Lance, Katie Anderson, Trey Beasley, William Beasley, and three great grandchildren Kyleigh, Wyatt and Wytten Breland.

It was obvious Jackie would be a devoted wife when, just after marrying in sunny California, she was sent by her new husband to snow-covered mountains in Virginia with his last dime, while he hitchhiked across the country to meet her. Continuing to show her love to Chuck, she again packed up shortly after and moved to Arlington, Virginia where their son was born. Shortly after that, it was back to sunny California, where she gave birth to their first daughter. AND, shortly after THAT, she packed up yet again to move back to Virginia adding another daughter. But WAIT! There was one last move to finally settle their family in Houston, Texas, where they added their final daughter to the family. Jackie would live in the same house from 1973 until her passing.

There wasn’t much Jackie couldn’t or wouldn’t do. Every sport she decided to try, whether it was bowling (lost count of all of her perfect games and trophies), volleyball, basketball or softball (2 state rings, 1 state watch), she was a star player. She loved all things outdoors - hunting pigs/turkey/deer, fishing, oystering, shrimping, crabbing, just so long as snow was not involved. Jackie and her family did much traveling all over the US, Canada and Mexico.

Her role as a working mom starting out as a bus driver in Virginia (a stick shift to boot) and later in Houston (starting 1973). She worked her way up to route coordinator for Alief ISD. Before there was Google trip, there was Jackie Foster at transportation, and she could find the best route for any trip or new student pickup. She loved the challenge of the job, only deciding to retire at 75! Chuck would say, “I have never seen anyone squeeze more out of a dollar.”

In her words “Aren’t you glad you got to see me?” – and, yes, we were all very glad indeed and look forward to seeing her again some day….much love always.

Note: B/W picture is from her husband Chuck’s wallet that he has carried there since that first night they met in the penny arcade 62 years ago. Let me also add Jackie would say sure glad he was the one with the car!!!

I loved the obituary! Oh how true this was. Yes and she always said " Aren't you glad you got to see me?" What a memorable character she was! RIP Jackie!

Jackie, was a tough gal that was hard for people to get to know. Once you really got to know her though you would realize she was a woman that truely had a big heart and really did love her family. She also loved her sports. We use to joke when we played softball together that I would have to be having to push her around the bases in her wheelchair.(she was always the oldest on the field) Well she played ball long enough to where she almost did have to be pushed around in one. I know she is looking down on her family know with love in her heart and no more pain in her body. Jackie you will always be in my heart. Love you.
